I don't think there is any point in comparing Word to WordPerfect with regard to Tables.  Why?  Because Word's Table feature is *so* bad (read: temperamental, frustrating) that it doesn't matter how many features Microsoft adds, it can never compare to WordPerfect's Tables, which are as powerful as having a Spreadsheet right within your word-processor.  I know of several people who have bought WordPerfect *JUST* so they don't have to work with Tables in Word.  I think that says it all.
