WP: Help Topics

1

A list of topics available in WP. The contents are displayed in Word only after asking a question.

WP: Ask the PerfectExpert
Word: Office Assistant

1

Both are natural language, and both WP & Word return a possible list of answers from which to choose (WP with a percentage showing how probable the topic is to the question you asked). Both don't always return a topic you were looking for, but I find that WP has the edge for returning an answer closest to that which you asked. WP also gives you two sorts of help:

  1. An overview of the topic
  2. A ‘How to . . .’.  WP also lists ‘Related Topics’

Microsoft's animated Office Assistants are many people's pet peeves—although I love F1   8^)

Word & WP: Index

Same.

WP: Find

Use 'Index' in Word.
WP also has ‘OPTIONS’ for any order, exact order, at least one of the words, show words that begin with the character you type, etc, etc, etc.

WP: Corel Knowledge Base

5

Search Corel’s Knowledge Base on the WEB. Word's option is more along the lines of ‘Send Feedback to Microsoft’.

WP: Perfect Expert

10

Corel’s Perfect Experts are like a context-sensitive Table of Contents on the left side of your screen. They guide you through the processes of formatting, creating, and changing your documents. This was one of the features that people new to wordprocessors rated highly when comparing WordPerfect to Word.

WP: Corel on the Web
Word: Office on the Web

1

Both take you to the respective Web Sites, which should help you find what you're looking for.

Word: Detect and Repair

5

This is a great new feature to Microsoft's products, although it isn't as extensive as one would assume. PowerPoint wasn't working for someone in our organization, so she used Detect and Repair, but this didn't fix the problem. We had to uninstall and reinstall the product.
