TABLES

I don't think there is any point in comparing Word to WordPerfect with regard to Tables.  Why?  Because Word's Table feature is *so* bad (read: temperamental, frustrating) that it doesn't matter how many features Microsoft adds, it can never compare to WordPerfect's Tables.

Please understand that the issue here is nothing to do with which word processor has more features, how those features are implemented (e.g., User Interface), or how easy it is to select, delete, or edit the Tables—the issue is that Word's Tables are *SO FRUSTRATING!* . . .  Rows can have different-sized cells; spacing and alignment can be a nightmare; row 'features' are weird (e.g., illogical height), etc., etc., etc.

XP has improved Word's Table features again (they're very close to WP's, with regard to power), but I would honestly use WordPerfect 6.1 (the first version I ever used), than the latest-and-greatest XP version of Word. I know of several people who have bought WordPerfect *JUST* so they don't have to work with Tables in Word.
I think that says it all.

For an example of what I'm talking about, click HERE to see a screen shot of a table 'acting up' in Word. Trying to fix these kinds of weird problems is a genuine hindrance to productivity.
